It just sits there in what I assume is its "initializing" state and never works.Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Feel free to laugh your asses off if this is a silly newbie question.By the way, I'm using Mac OS 10.4 and downloaded the appropriate version of Vuescan. Unfortunately, every time I attempt to run it, it says it needs to "initialize the scanner," asks me to "close the scanner door," and commences to load.

I put it into the scanner just a little bit according to your suggestions and also according to the manual (thanks for posting the link to that). I bought the scanner used and it didn't come with the original software, so that's not really an option unless I go ebay hunting for it.I can't get the scanner to "grab" my film tray either. It seems to work best with minimal interference from me, if that makes any sense.For printing, I set it to the highest possible resolution, do a straight 2x or 4x scan and then work the resulting.
It just goes into it's "initializing" phase and the scanner light keeps blinking for hours until I get frustrated and try it again. I've been trying all day today to get it to work and it won't even open up the software. It wouldn't scan any other frames after that one. Any ideas about why I'm getting the weird green scan instead of my actual slide? I wish I could try another alternative scanning software to see if the same thing happens.Actually I should also mention that the "green scan" I've been talking about is the only one I've been able to get out of it. Make sure that you turn on the scanner with the door closed. Vuescan worked fine from the start. Now it is working with a Dell running Vista. The Minolta software stopped working on my mac several years ago, and I put the scanner aside.
Always power on the scanner, make sure the door is closed all the way, open the software and let it do it's setup every time and then use freely. Best thing is to remember this order. Get the actual minolta drivers from their website.The driver can be weird and not work sometimes. Or do i have to preview the image and then scan it and then type in the next frame and so on?I'm used to silverfast on my v700, but the curved negative made me to look to alternatives and the betterscanning solution was more expensive then this minolta scanner.Vuescan always gave me trouble with my Minolta Scan Dual 3. Is there a way to preview the images, adjust settings and then batch scan it. It ought to be warmed up and ready in a minute or less.I'm using this scanner with vuescan on a mac too and have a problem with batch scanning and was hoping someone could shine a light on it.When i scan, the scanner or vuescan compensates the slide or negative and overexposes the image and gives a lot of noise to the shadows.
